A 30-minute drive north of Agadir takes you to Taghazout, one of the most idyllic spots on Morocco´s Atlantic coast. A Moroccan beach resort, where everything revolves around surfing. Both beginner and advanced surfers are welcome here!
The village still retains much of its old charm and as you make your way to the beach, you will pass through narrow cobbled streets with white washed buildings down to the harbour full of overturned blue fishing boats just back from a morning fishing trip.
Moroccan vacationers come here as well, but the sleepy town hasn’t become a hotspot for the rest of the world yet. You can still mingle with the locals and chill out as you walk through town.
Here is my guide to Taghazout in Morocco including information on how to get to Taghazout, things to do and where to stay.
How to get to Taghazout
The nearest main town and airport to Taghazout is Agadir. The easiest option is to charter a taxi for the 40 min drive to Taghazout from Agadir airport. It should cost about 400 dirham (40€) and is by far the most convenient transport method. There are no trains in this area and buses are irregular.

Things to do in Taghazout
Taghazout is really small, but has a great selection of cafes and bars, as well as surf stores. A wander around the town gives a wonderful glimpse into the locals’ lives. Effortlessly trendy, it is perfectly suited to young people looking for a lazy beach holiday.
Whether you’re riding the raging waves, sitting back with a milkshake at a seaside cafe or explore the nooks and crannies of Paradise Valley, you will never be at a loss for something to do.
Learn how to surf in Taghazout
The most popular thing to do in Taghazout is surfing! The waves in front of the main beach stretch are great for beginners and you’ll see plenty of lessons taking place here.
For more experienced surfers, the coastline offers a huge range of breaks and surfing conditions. Many of the surf schools in Taghazout are connected to the hotels and surf hostels so you can book accommodation and surf lessons in one.
Practice yoga in Taghazout
Yoga is a pretty popular activity around here and most Taghazout surf hotels and camps offer it in their all-inclusive packages. After all, what could be better than a little bit of stretching after a full day of surfing? All while admiring the sunset, why not?!
Horse trekking in Taghazout
Another popular activity in Taghazout is horse trekking. This is a great way to explore the surrounding area and scenery, and your accommodation is likely to be able to organise this for you.
Go on a day trip to Paradise Valley
If you are up for exploring, you can drive about 40 miles to Paradise Valley, where you will see still pools of turquoise water at the base of incredible waterfalls. This trip will offer you some of the most beautiful sights that wild Morocco has to offer.
Lay on the beach under the sun in Taghazout
Instead of surfing Taghazout’s waves, some visitors choose to admire them from the safety of the village’s beautiful beaches. Expect golden sands, clear water, and abundant sunshine, with average annual temperatures of around 25º C. Taghazout’s main beach is especially popular with families, with safe swimming and a relaxed atmosphere.
Visit Agadir
If you can drag yourself away from Taghazout itself, nearby Agadir is well worth a visit. You can spend your day admiring million-dollar yachts in Agadir Marina or learning more about Berber culture with a visit to Musée du Patrimoine Amazigh.
If you want to enjoy the pleasures of the beach, you should definitely add this village on the Atlantic coast to your bucket list destinations.
Hope these tips will be helpful on planning your next trip to sunny bay of Taghazout.
